   22 x 26  June 12 "Baseball Lights"

At sunset in the summertime, the last of the thunderheads fizzle out in the east. On the horizon are the baseball stadium lights for Manor High School, where the summer leagues play each night. At about this time  of the evening, the little frogs in the tanks (peepers) are raising a chorus over the fields...my FAVORITE time of year!

See the small plein air version below, which I used as a study for this one.

June 26 "Cicada Morning"
The cat brought a cicada inside and it made a distressing rattlesnack sound!
From studio I saw the cats gathered 'round and feared the worst.
Ran down, put on boots, grabbed a broom and discovered the cicada...wow, what to do with all this adrenaline!
P.S.  There was a snake in the house a couple years years ago and
the cats gathered 'round the same way.

June 27 6:15 - 6:45 am
To the mockingbird's song :)
This one (or two?) has stayed here all spring and summer..
....usually perched on my TV antenna singing all day and often all night.
Territory is from antenna over studio to the ash tree by Samuel's room to the hackberry trees in back.
.....A triangle of territory.

June 29 Thunderstorms over Bastrop County gave us a spectacular sunrise!  (see pics)
Mockingbird sang all night and serenaded me from the TV antenna.
